ARCHITECTS
Rosas & Xocolate is situated in two renovated
colonial mansions, on Merida's most important
historic avenue. The architecture was
reinterpreted and recreated producing a fusion
of contemporary with antiquity. The design
uses elements and materials which distinguish
Yucatecan and Mayan cultures and the
early 20th century with its European influence.
The fusion concept is derived from the name
of the hotel, taking architecture and design
to new levels. Regional and traditional are in
harmony with global contemporary. Natural
materials and handcrafted finishings balance
with industrial and technological.
Public areas, restaurant, kitchen, parts of the spa,
terrace bar, and the 3 suites have preserved the
architecture. The remaining 14 rooms and fitness
center fuse modernity with scale and generous
proportions, spatial quality found in near century
old houses. Rosas & Xocolate is designed as a
destination within a destination.
Many materials used derive from ancient
techniques including "Chukum" stucco finish.
The walls of the rooms are coated with the
resin obtained from tree bark endemic to this
region. Sisal, red earth and limestone
complement the palette of natural materials
echoing the aesthetic experience of the Yucatan.
